Well.... lets see On May 1st Hubby and I celebrated our 15th anniversary ! whoo hoo can't believe we made it this long. I think we have come to an understanding of sorts lmao
I worked that day and when I was at the gas station filling the car I got a phone call from my VERY upset and distraught niece. She was crying and telling me that her apartment building was on fire and burning down as she and others watched helplessly! I felt helpless myself since I am all the way down here in FL and she is in Asheville NC. I tried to get info on the web and her news station only had a banner across the top of their web page with Apartment fire news at 11 which only made me more anxious ! It was a total loss and it took hours to put out. It started on the second floor, No smoke alarms went off. One of the tenants smelled smoke and called 911. Everyone was able to get out, one woman jumped from her second floor and broke her ankle. Could have been worse .
So now my Niece and her 3 year old daughter are living with my Sister until they get an apartment. People have been donating and it is greatly appreciated. My 3 yr. old Great Niece told her mommy that her apartment is Broken awwwww.I am hopeful that she is so young that she won't remember anything or at least very little.
On the Sunday before Mothers Day we met up with Husbeast's Brothers and went to see the Iron Man movie. It was great! We don't go to many movies since our tastes are so varied and there is so little time to go with our schedules. Mother in Law was supposed to go too but wasn't feeling up to going along. I think we are all going to try to go to Indiana Jones together ( I hope Mom can go too!) I really liked Robert Downey in the lead role.He is a good actor and now that he seems to have gotten his act (pun intended) together I think he'll be around a long time.
I found a spelling and writing curricula for Sydney and I hope it will finally click for her. She does exceptional in Math and her other studies. It can't all be easy right? lol She is reading chapter books with some prodding :) and the biggest issue That I am having is that Lazy Gene she has inherited from someone .... ;)
We have a fourth body at the Salon finally!!! but, I think he'll quit like the others. They all want $$$ NOW haha Where? have you been working dude??? got to pay yer dues first! lol I think HE thinks that it will happen thru word of mouth that HE is at our salon. I suggested HE go hand out some cards and he said nah HE thinks that if he runs into a former client they will tell everyone that HE is over here now. OY! good luck with that! I really want to take Mondays off so I can have mon/ tues off I have a feeling it'll be short lived.
My Mothers day was lovely. We went to the In- Laws and had BBQ and visited. Everyone played nice . Florida Niece was ill (has had stomach issues for over a year) and her BF took her to the Hospital just hours before we were to be at Moms. I really wish (along with everyone else) that they could fix her!
My Mothers Day present was a new tattoo !!! the artist was an ass and I am not sure I really love it yet... Once it heals we'll see. I'll talk more about it later when I have pix. I also met up with my local knitting buddy for and hour after work Monday.Yes, I am still Knitting socks lol I just havent seen anything else inspiring to knit. My allergies were so bad that I had to cut our Knitting time short! I have had Clariton and Benedryl and finally I gave in and bought Zyrtec. It is sooo hard to pay more that the $5.00 I paid when I had Insurance. OY but now I can breath YEA!!!!!!!!!
When we woke up and hubby and I discussed how it was going to be a nice lazy day . Nothing really important ie Laundry and Groceries could wait.
Then I flushed!
I tried to plunge... then called in Husbeast (I do that when I give up lol) and suddenly we had sewage in the tub too!
Well we are Renters and live in an RV park (surrounded by Retired People ... more about that in a bit) so I called our sweet lil ol' landlady. Come to find out she is recovering from Neumonia (oy) and she would be right over with her son (he isn't well either). Well , once they got here and did what men do (husbeast and the son) they determined it wasn't us!
A pipe burst under the front and all sorts of icky (add barfing sounds here) spill over my front yard!
It was the Parks fault (yea! boo!) so now they need to find The One In Charge. He arrives to tell us he is no longer in charge but the old fella who just rode past on his bike is! Finally we get two old timers (and now our neighbor too) over here . Now they have to find the Treasurer (Board of directors ,,, each lot is Owned etc) to authorize a plumber.
I tried to stay out of the way since I am just a female and definitely Not part of the Geriatric crowd here. I mean seriously .When they were waiting the discussions were all about their Health or lack of it. I tried to make nice and was ignored ! LOL Then we had the lil ol ladies on their golf carts riding around bein nosey!! We are on a one way street and have only 9 homes on it but 15 or so lots. Not much to see here folks!! but word must have traveled! it was funny! They really need to Knit or something :)
Hours later (and Hubby still needs to sleep before going to work at 10pm!) We get a Plumber (lil old lady and two sons - she reminded me of granny on the beverly hillbillies Seriously!) came and fixed it ! Yea!!!!!!!
It was 5pm before I could run water and shut the doors (thank You Febreeze!) and breathe, and flush!
So that was Earth Day at our humble abode in the sticks. I think there is a metaphore here some where with the sewage fertilizing my front yard....
I am still lovin the Zune! I cast on a new pair of socks... Neopolitini were making me crazy. I'll get back to them eventually.
Work has picked up this week , which is always good.
Sydney has read 4 chapters of Little House on the Prairie! We are going to do a Pioneer Unit study after we wrap up the one on Oceans. She is also doing more spelling copywork. That is the one area that concerns me. Her reading is up to par. It is her spelling that she seems to have a problem with. I was always a good speller and loved to read anything I could get my hands on! I hope I can instill that into her :) She has also become very artistic, another quality from my side of the family. She drew me little pictures on post it notes last night and passed them over the top of the laptop lol I love it!
I havent found a lace pattern yet... I guess i'll put the thought aside and just wait .... sometimes iI stumble across things. Maybe i'll stumble across an easy shawl pattern ? lol so, it's still socks for me!
I am not posting pics tonight , I am plugged into my new........Zune I am in love with it !!! and OH! the Podcasts I have found ala Itunes and Zune!! Everything and anything you can imagine has a Podcast with and without video. I bought the 8 gig. I almost bought the 30 g but they were out of stock!!! I am finding that the 8g suits me just fine. I added all my tunes and pics from the laptop and oodles of podcasts. I am going to hook it up to my Desktop and get the tunes and pics from there.
So far I have Knitting Podcasts,Homeschool, Parenting and Kd related. I am sure if I keep searching I can find things I never dreamed I would listen to LOL
I picked up my sock again... I think it's the yarn that makes me not want to knit it. I love the colors... it just hasnt grabbed my attention lately. Still looking for a lace pattern.
Work has been slow this week and my MGR. is having issues at home and seems to like to share with me and not the other co worker. It's depressing so I came home early today. I just couldnt be there in that atmosphere. I have had my own depression related issues and I discovered that certain things trigger them. For my mental Health Home was the better choice.
I gonna plug in and listen to my ZUNE WOOT!
So, when I stick my head up i'll post some pics
This is my new knittin bag! I spose I should add a pic of it closed too lol I went to Walmart to get a Toaster Oven and on accident went down the craft isle (haha)
This lovely bag was marked down from $30.00 to $21.00
It is a rich Chocolate Brown with Lime Green on the inside (not my fave color) it has loads of yummy pockets and can definitely hold a Knitting project or two .
Ill take a front pic tommorrow...
step 1 step 2 step 3 step 4 step 5
fill nylon with rice tie a secure knot fold back over stuff into a sock use a hair tie
tie another knot ( without metal!)
This is a fast way to make a heating pad and I plan on knitting a cover for it soon. I used a mate less sock that was lonely... The hair tie is the type without metal, makes it easier to use in the Micro.
Heat for approx 2 minutes and then its ready to use on whatever body part needs attention! Stays warm for at least half an hour.If still needed I pop it right back in!
Disclaimer: Each Microwave heats differently!! Use extreme caution please!
It has been busy work week and just... life in general. I had a client that makes Cold Process soap and he brought me some :) Which then brought up the conversation how Syddles and I made Melt and Pour about a year and a half ago. Well... He happened to have some Base sitting around and brought me a couple Lbs.the next day!!! woot!!!
I asked Husbeast to pleaseeeeee get our supplies out of the shed and he informed me he couldn't ie would'nt as it was alll the way up in the back corner and he'd have to move everything. So guess what this means for me??? Shopping!!!! I found a couple of sites with decent prices and when I get paid next week I will be making an order!!!
I love homemade soap!!
Still kniting the sock and looking for a patten for an easy lace project...
Husbeast and Bro in law surprized Syddles and took her to RAW in Orlando last night. Her first big event! They didn't tell her where they were going LOL she crackes me up with this wrestling fetish she has. Her Fave is EDGE
this is what they brought me :)
L
I have a ballwinder and I enjoy the pretty center pull yarn cakes it produces for me! untill.......
it took half an hour to undo!
heres the end result! damn Yarn! ( How I do lov thee, really.)
It is so frustrating but I keep on Knittin' Heehee
HAPPY EASTER or spring break to those who don't celebrate. We were invited as of yesterday at noon to the In-Laws for dinner. I'll take the camera and see what trouble I can get into :) I am on the instep of the sock now.I am just too tired to knit tonight. I'll pack it up and take along tommorrow. Working on Sydney's HS Geography assignments and Unit Study has me busy.Working and homeschooling makes me sleepy LOL
